Early Life and Education
Alex attended the University of Missouri (MIZZOU) Tiger, where she graduated from the first, and one of the best, journalism schools in the nation. He carried a double minor in Sociology and Spanish.
While at the university, she was voted Mizzou’s Homecoming Queen. Alex created a recognized community service program for students called “SWIPES Make a Difference.”
The program continues to help college students donate unused meal plans to those in need in local communities. Alex still uses that service spirit as she volunteers with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Rise To Fame
Before joining her current station, FOX 29, in the summer of 2014 as a co-host of “Good Day Philadelphia”, Alex worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor for the WMBF-TV’s morning news programs in Myrtle Beach, South California, where she covered a range of life stories, tropical storms, and hurricanes to the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary Debates.
She worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. Also, she served as an anchor for the innovative multi-source news website, Newsy.com. You can see her in the digital journalism display in the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
Alex announced on August 17, 2018, Friday morning she will be taking a break from Fox29’s morning show, Good Day Philadelphia, for a couple of weeks.
