He started by working in Decatur, Illinois after graduating from Columbia College in Chicago. Vascellaro was a news anchor at the WAND-TV station & later headed to Peoria, Illinois, this time joining the WHOI-TV station as a news anchor/reporter.
He moved to Minnesota, joined WCCO-TV as a news anchor, & continues to work there to date. His wife Amelia also took a job as an anchor at the network and the two became co-anchors in June 2006. They made history, becoming the first-ever couple to work as co-anchors on a daily news show in the region.
