They decided to work on the web series Broad City after Abbi received a negative attitude towards a sketch show she was making with her then partner. The characters of Broad City were initially named Evelyn Wexler and Carly Abrams but later changed to using their first names instead. It was aired on Comedy Central in 2012 which aired for five seasons. Abbi and Glazer decided to end the show in its fifth season to give it a strong ending instead of being canceled. The two said on their final season that;

“I feel like we’ve raised these kids, Abbi Abrams and Ilana Wexler, and we’re sending them to college,” Glazer says. “We didn’t want to just go until it got canceled, We wanted to choose to end it so that it could end as strong as possible. We chose this ending to honor the characters.”
