Babu Owino was to be charged with attempted murder in 2020, after he allegedly shot and injured DJ Evolve at a popular night club in Kilimani, Nairobi in the early hours of Friday morning. He was arrested the following morning over the 4 a.m. shooting incident at B Club on Galana Road.

In court, DJ Evolve parents acknowledged that Babu and DJ Evolve were great friends, adding that they had constantly engaged him on the case. The magistrate heard that the victim asserted he did not want the case to proceed. He argued that Dj Evolve was not mentally and physically capable to give instructions and therefore needed a medical report to assess his ability to give commands.
