Maggs has worked across all media platforms – newspapers, radio, television, magazines, and online. He studied journalism at the then Natal Technikon. After college, he started his career as a cadet reporter on The Herald newspaper in Port Elizabeth and later moved to the Sunday Tribune in Durban.
Maggs then spent 10 years at Radio 702 eventually rising to Head of News and was instrumental in developing the Eyewitness News brand. He then ventured into television and was a lead anchor on am-today on SABC2 – the respected morning news and current affairs program.
