Jolene Martin Biography
Jolene Martin Morgan is a South African actress, singer, television presenter, and MC. She’s known for hosting the Coca-Cola Mega Millions Show on SABC1.
Jolene Martin Education
Martin attended Sans Souci Girls High School. On entering high school at Sans Souci Girls’ High she was asked to present another youth TV show called 2 Cool, for SABC2. Her high school years saw her playing lead roles on professional stages in musicals like Chicago and The Sound of Music.
Jolene Martin Singing Career
When she was 13 years old he was spotted by a television producer and recruited to be the Cape Town field presenter for Eco-Vision, a SABC youth environmental awareness program. While she was in high school she was asked to present another youth TV show called 2 Cool for SABC.
At the age of 17, she was one of the two selected citizens who were selected to participate in addressing the United Nations. At their headquarters in Paris, France on cities going through a dramatic change. She was selected to represent South Africa by the Los Angeles based famous art institute the J. Paul Getty Foundation.
The J. Paul Getty foundation in the book Picture Cape Town published Jolene’s photography and poem. Her poem – about her visit to Robben Island – was a matric network published in the following year’s curriculum in the Western Cape.
In 1998 she played a lead role in Grease which got her noticed by theatre legend Janice Honeyman. Jolene was offered the role of Candy in the e.tv sitcom scoop Schoombie playing a young, attractive and very absentminded receptionist. Her next comedy lead role was in another e.tv sitcom as Janine in Fishy Fêshuns.
Having worked hard for most of her life she decided to take a break on the island of Mallorca, Spain. Her vocal talents, however, found her traveling for six months alongside purveyors of dance music Ministry of Sound, headlining at some of the biggest clubs in Spain and the Mediterranean.
She decided to return to South Africa to record her debut album The Beginning, with South Africa’s most elite dance producers’ Revolution. The album was released in 2006. Jolene has been involved in four high profile television shows to date. The first was as a host show host on the Coca Cola Mega Millions game show, which commanded a large audience.
A new challenge availed itself when kykNET approached her to portray her first fully Afrikaans-speaking character in her first soap opera, as Tessa in Begeertes. She co-hosted the magazine show Curious Culture. Played a vixen lawyer character in the third season of SABC’s drama series Hard Copy and appeared in the second season of SABC2’s hospital drama Hillside.
She is frequently requested to MC high profile events and is involved in her chosen charity The Gauteng Health Department, AIDS Foundation. In 2009 she was a regular cast member of the SABC2 sitcom Konsternasie Oppie Stasie. Playing the role of Molly D’Oliveira, the floor manager of a community TV station. In 2015 she had a guest-starring role on the SABC1 soap opera Generations: The Legacy.
