Kimani Wamatangi is the Governor of Kiambu County following the August 9, 2022, general election. Wamatangi won the Kiambu governor seat under United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket. Governor Wamatangi promised in his manifesto to establish a county-based bank through which the ‘Hustler Revolving Fund’ will be channeled.
Governor Wamatangi was born and brought up in Kiambu, Kenya as a Paul Kimani Wamatangi. His name came into the limelight in 2003 when he started his foundation Paul Kimani Wamatangi with the intention of helping the communities better their lives.

Governor Wamatangi’s first job was as a bus driver serving Tikinya, a transport company, soon after finishing his education. In the year 2004, he began working as the managing director at Auto Bass Limited, a position he held for eight years. In the year 2008, Wamatangi became the director of, Total Assurance, as well as the same year he became the director of Kings Constructions.
In the year 2009, he worked as the director of Lub Plus Trading, and in 2010 served as the director of Apex Security. Ahead of the 2013 election, Wamatangi stepped down from all the positions he was holding in all the companies.
