Rich Mavoko Biography
Rich Mavoko is a Tanzanian artiste popularly known for his hit song “Moyo Wangu”. He is one of the few Tanzanian celebrities who have warmed their way into Africa’s hearts with his song “Roho Yangu” becoming a popular tune.
He signed a contract to become the first ambassador to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Solar for Education (S4E) campaign. Solar for Education campaign is an initiative of the WWF Regional Office for Africa (ROA) Energy Hub piloted in 2015 by WWF Tanzania to demonstrate the opportunities renewable energy solutions can provide to the social economic transformation in Africa.
After successfully building his brand in Tanzania, Mavoko was featured by Kenya’s Rabbit-Kaka Sungura on their song “Njoo” in 2015 and after the musical project, it seems that Mavoko fell in love with Kenya. Mavoko was soon after signed into Kaka empire records by King Kaka.
Rabbit who runs Kaka Empire announced that Rich Mavoko had been signed into his record label and urged fans to welcome him to the label.
The artist however did not renew his contract with Kaka Empire, opting to shift camps to his native country. He then went ahead and signed to Diamond Platnumz’s label, Wasafi Records. Wasafi Records is the first ever record company in Tanzania owned by an artist. Following his move, King Kaka congratulated him on his decision through a post on his Instagram page. Diamond would not be left behind as he welcomed Mavoko to his label also via a post on his Instagram account.

Rumors had been going round that the Rudi singer had left the record label but Diamond’s manager, Babu Tale dismissed the rumors saying that they will speak about Rich Mavoko when the time was right.
Rich Mavoko did an exclusive interview with Tanzania’s Kwanza TV citing that Diamond had no plans for him but was bent on overworking him.
He shared that Diamond Platnumz was constantly on his case, pushing him to release new songs without taking a break. He felt that the label did not put into consideration his own desires and dreams for his career.
Mavoko also mentioned that Diamond never had time for him like other artists, for him it was just work- related conversations making him to feel like there was biased treatment.
Rich Mavoko had been signed at the record label for a little over two years.
His case was heard by Tanzania’s music and arts board, Baraza la Sanaa Tanzania (Basata) who determined that Rich Mavoko is allowed to terminate his contract.
The artist had been signed at King Kaka’s record label before moving to Wasafi.
He is the first artist signed under Wasafi Classic Baby to leave the record label.
