Ruby is a Tanzanian Musician and also a beauty queen in the eyes of many. She is popularly known for her hit song “yule”.
Ruby, this new music sensation from Tanzania thinks her star is about to shine. When she released the Na Yule video , very few knew the Tanzania House of Talent-signed singer. In fact, those who knew her only related with her thanks to her win in the 2014 Serengeti Fiesta Supa Nyota Diva, the moment she first got her showbiz breakthrough.
Ruby Tanzania Music Career
She started singing in church when she was very young. Her professional music career started when she joined a competition in Tanzania, Serengeti Fiesta Supa Nyota Diva and won in 2014. When she first ventured into secular music, she did not get much support which is says was because those that knew her then thought she was doing something sinful whereas she believes that music is business like any other and she is just using her God-given talent to get returns.
She has already done notable collaborations with key artistes in Tanzania such as Yamoto Band, AbduKiba, and Baraka da Prince.
The Na Yule hit maker is the surprise new artiste has been launched in the Coke Studio TV show where she is joining Kenya’s Nyashinski and Nigeria’s Yemi in a rare fusion.
Ruby has performed at the Kili Music Awards, the launch of the presidential campaign and the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) 2015 among many other places.

Briefly tell us about yourself?
Tanzanian Ruby: Ruby is a Tanzanian musician and I have only been in the music industry for the past one and a half years. Right now I can say people are noticing and recognizing who I am.
When did you discover that you have a talent in singing?
Tanzanian Ruby: Before I started to sing secular music I used to sing gospel. My father is a Bishop and I started singing
in church when I was growing up. My uncle taught me how to play drums in church. It doesn’t mean I will never sing gospel music again, I will because God loves me and He is the reason my doors are opening for me now. The music I’m doing now is only for business.
Tell us about the singing competition you won in Tanzania?
Tanzanian Ruby: The competition that made me switch from gospel to secular music was called Super Nyota Diva. The contestants were picked from different regions and I was representing Dar es Salaam. I won the competition in 2014 by beating other 13 contestants. They reason I won was because I knew who I was and what I wanted.
What was the inspiration behind your song Na Yule?
Tanzanian Ruby: Barnaba who was a judge during the Super Nyota Diva competition wrote the song for me as a present for winning the competition. I love the song because people are recognizing me now.
How does it feel to be part of this season’s Coke Studio Show?
Tanzanian Ruby: I thank God for this wonderful opportunity that I was given to sing together with Yemi Alade and Nyashinski for collaborating with me and hope that we can do something together in the future.
What message would you like to give to your fans?
Tanzanian Ruby: After this season of Coke Studio Show I promise Kenyans that I will come to promote my new single Wale Wale. The video will be out soon. I also want to make it big in this music industry.
