Salama Jabir Interview
Interviewer: What happened to your job at EATV, were you sacked?
Salama Jabir: (Laughs out loud) No I was never sacked. I got a scholarship in 2008 and I was granted a study leave. I’m now pursuing a degree in media production at the University of Glamogan in Wales.
Interviewer: Who is Salama Jabir?
Salama Jabir: A hardworking girl, born in a family of nine over 26 years ago. Growing up wasn’t easy as I kept hopping from one family to another. I never spent time with my family since I was raised by my aunties. Well, everyone has a background and it’s usually not the best, but here I am.
And the tomboy look, what inspires your style? It’s just a mindset. I wear whatever I like as long as I feel smart and comfortable. Sometimes I put on skirts and dresses but I feel most comfortable when I dress up like a man.
Interviewer: Does that say something about your sexuality-some people think you might be a lesbian?
Salama Jabir: (Laughs) I expected that question. But no I’ m not gay, I like men but I have no problem with gay people.
Interviewer: Have you gotten advances from women?
Salama Jabir: Oh yes! Several times; they call me “the hottie from EATV.” Although I always tell them the truth that I’m straight, I must be honest; I really like the feeling. I find the whole thing of a fellow woman falling for me really sexy. I mean, imagine driving both women and men crazy-it feels so nice!Well, some women are serious and they try and insist but after realising they will never stand a chance, they drop their guns.
Interviewer: Are you dating anyone?
Salama Jabir: Yes I’m seeing someone. I like black men but I’m afraid to say the one I’m seeing right now is not black; I’m seeing a white man- that’s all.

Salama Jabir: At first he wasn’t so comfortable with the whole idea of me dressing up like a man. But with time he got to understand that I love my style; so he likes my dress code and respects it.
Interviewer: Don’t men hit on you since you are a celebrity, how do you handle it?
Salama Jabir: Yes men hit on me all the time, everywhere I go. I always advise them to consider friendship. However there was this one incident which occurred about three weeks ago. This man calls me and asks me where I was. I told him I was somewhere doing a TV shoot. He drove straight to the place and waited until I was done. He walked straight to me and told me he was rich and wanted to marry me. He told me he was crazy about me and would give me whatever I wanted. I couldn’t believe my eyes and my ears, but I had to stand my ground. So I told him I was seeing someone and advised him to become a friend. He looked so disappointed and I walked away before I could get so sympathetic!
Interviewer: Have you thought about getting married and having children?
Salama Jabir: I love children and want to be a mother some time. I’ll have children when the time is right. For marriage, I have to give it a clear thought when the time is right!
Interviewer: What’s that one thing you can’t do without?
Salama Jabir: I love soccer with a passion though I personally can’t play. I’m a big Manchester United fan and compare the club to cake- I just can’t do without cake.
