He has designed a Fall collection in 2008 using black as the predominant color, followed by his Spring 2009 collection with bright colors like orange and dusty purple. He has been working with Balenciaga for a while but, on July 31, 2015, it was announced that Wang would leave the company.

He stated with Balenciaga for two years until Kering issued a press release announcing that Wang will leave Balenciaga by mutual consent on the 31st of July 2015. An announcement was made on the 13th of April 2014, stating that he would be the next designer to create a collection for the fashion retailer H&M. The collection featured pieces for both men and women, along with a selection of his famed accessories. In 2016, Wang became the CEO and chairman of the Wang brand, succeeding his mother, Ying Wang, and sister-in-law, Aimee Wang. Recently, in 2017, he was featured by HypeBeast in their list of top 100 influencers in the industry.

A lawsuit was filed against him by the New York Post for running a Sweatshop in Chinatown, Manhattan. Some of his workers have complained about the labor conditions she provides. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the plaintiffs involved in the suit are asking for $50 million per charge, adding up to $450 million for the 9 charges in total. The lawsuit was dismissed by the New York Federal Court Judge Harold Baer.
