Rae’s love for sports began at a young age. She began her career at WSLS Newschannel 10 ar a sports and news intern in August 2010. While there she conducted and assisted reporters on news stories, attended high school football games, noted time codes, and performed post-game interviews with coaches and players. She then moved to FOX 21/27 in August 2011 working as the high school football reporter.
After leaving FOX, Rae joined WVNS-TV 59 News in Beckley, West Virginia where she worked as a sports director. While at WVNS-TV, she reported, produced and anchored sports weekdays for 6, 10, and 11 evening newscasts, shot, wrote and edited sports packages, VOSOTS, and sportscaster, and covered local, collegiate and professional sporting events. During her time in WVNS-TV Beckley, she was the West Virginia Broadcasters Association recipient for “Best Sportscast.”
In May 2015, Alyssa joined WSLS Newschannel 10 in Roanoke where she first began as an intern. She worked as the sports weekend anchor for CBS 17. While still at WSLS, she had the honor of covering her previous college. In Roanoke, Alyssa joined an award-winning sports team that was named “Best Sports Operation of Virginia’s” by the Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters for back to back years in 2017 and 2018. The WSLS team also won the Virginia Association of Broadcasters “Most Outstanding Sports Coverage” in 2016.
