Andrew Ginther Mayor of Columbus 2020

He was chosen the 53rd city hall leader of Columbus on Nov. 3, 2015, succeeding Mayor Michael B. Coleman who was the longest-serving city hall leader in Columbus history. Ginther and individual Democrat Zach Scott, the previous Franklin County, Ohio Sheriff, were chosen in March 2015, in an essential political decision by Columbus voters to contend in the November 2015 general political race to supplant resigning Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman (D). On November 3, 2015, during the general political race, Ginther crushed Scott with 59% of the vote.

Chairman Ginther recently served on Columbus City Council from 2007-2015 and filled in as leader of Council from 2011 until expecting the Office of Mayor January 1, 2016. In 2019, Ginther was reappointed unopposed as civic chairman of Columbus. During his State of the City address in February of 2020, he declared activities to improve the city’s Sullivant Avenue hall in Franklinton and the Hilltop. Mayors oversee a city’s fundamental offices, including the police, fire, instruction, lodging, and transportation divisions. Simultaneously, their obligations differ contingent upon the neighborhood power structure.
