How to apply for the Bursary:
- This bursary programme by the County government are accessed by filling application forms which could be found by downloading them from the official websites of county government which the applicants belong or by visiting the County government offices in your county or any Chief/Sub-Chief’s office.
- Applicants should fully fill the application forms and they require the help of a guardian or parent. Some of the details required include your full names, Name of school, Your registration/ Admission number, the amount of fees you want to be paid, your Parents/Guardian name, their Identity Card Number, place of residence within that particular County, the Parent/Guardian Signature and the applicants’ results lip/report since they target the needy and bright students in the County.
- After filling the forms, you need various signatures from the Government officials such as the Chief, Sub-Chief, Headmen and then from their Priest/Pastor/Sheikh.
- Application forms are then submitted after the full filling and ascertained that the information provided is of the highest percentage of truth to the County government or to the office of the area Chief/Sub-chief who will then take them to the appropriate offices.
The application forms would be processed within a stipulated time frame and after this period, the successful applicants would have their fees paid in by the County government. The Nairobi county government has announced that it will sponsor more than 600 needy students who performed well in last year’s KCPE.Announcing the initiative, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko said the top three students in the county’s 204 public primary schools will benefit from the kitty as form one students report to school from Tuesday.
Sonko said that it was in line with the county’s agenda of supporting the education of the bright needy students but warned head teachers and other education officials against using such programs to enrich themselves by selling chances to the highest bidders.“Any primary school head teacher or education official who will attempt to sell or deny such needy students a chance by soliciting for bribes shall be dealt with mercilessly,” Sonko wrote on his Facebook page.
He added that had already given instructions that all the bursary allocation forms be released to all the public primary schools.On Wednesday, acting Education CS Fred Matiang’i said the government had released Sh29.5 billion for the first term of free secondary education.
The annual fee for day secondary schools is Sh22,244 per child and will be disbursed in the ratio of 50:30:20. Subsequent disbursements are expected in April and August.Last month, the governor promised to scrap school fees in all public nursery schools in Nairobi starting this month.The proposal which is dubbed Free Early childhood and Pre-primary Education is set to be tabled before the county Cabinet which he chairs.
