Bill began his coaching career immediately after completing his course at Wesleyan University. He accepted a staff assistant position with the Baltimore Colts in 1975. Bill was then named the most special assistant to Head Coach Ted Matchibroda. Later on, Bill was able to join Rick Forzano’s staff with the Detroit Lions as the special team coach assistant in 1976.
