Magnusson came along in the ‘ 90s, but his legend is as well known today as it was when he won the World’s, Strongest Man. Hercules ‘ hold involves an athlete standing between two pillars that would normally fall to either side when released.
The reason they don’t do this is that the athlete will hold a chain or a rope on the handles that are attached to them. Obviously, the grip of the athlete must be extremely strong. The arms and neck will be spread out, which will inevitably lead to burning sensations that only escalate as the seconds tick away.
The longer the athlete can hold on, the more impressive his strength and tolerance of pain will be. This is beyond the physical test. You need to be mentally strong and determined to last longer than the athlete before you.
