Bill Wallace Early Career Experiences
Wallace started his training in wrestling during his high school years. He began the study of Judo in 1966 but had to discontinue
due to injuries he had incurred in his right knee during practice. A year later, he began practicing Shōrin-ryū Karate, under Michael Gneck. He was simultaneously serving in the US Air Force at the time. He entered the tournament scene and after succeeding there, he switched to full-contact competition.
Wallace won 23 consecutive tournaments between 1974 and 1980 with the help of veteran fighter Jim Harrison. He became the Professional Karate Association middleweight world full-contact karate champion and he retired undefeated.

A year later, Wallace started to pursue Karate as a profession and captured the Professional Karate Association middleweight karate championship with a second-round knockout. He relinquished the crown in 1980, undefeated.
