Bill Weld Biography

Bill Weld is an American businessman, attorney, and Republican politician who served as the 68th Governor of Massachusetts from 1991 to 1997. Weld is currently running for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2020.

Weld was chosen Governor of Massachusetts in 1990. In the 1994 political race, he was reelected by the biggest edge of triumph in Massachusetts history. In 1996, he was the Republican candidate for the United States Senate in Massachusetts, losing to Democratic officeholder John Kerry.
