Beers is a one-time professional ice hockey defenseman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1989 to 2000. Beers was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 10th round, 210th overall, of the 1985 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Also, Beers played college hockey at the University of Maine, as a freshman, where he was a two-time All-American.
In 1989, Beers made his NHL debut with the Bruins, where he played for six seasons, before being traded to the Detroit Red Wings in 1995. Beers played with the Red Wings for one season, before being traded to the Winnipeg Jets a year later, where he played for two seasons, before being sold to the Philadelphia Flyers in the year 1998.
Moreover, Beers played with the Flyers for one season and quit the NHL in 2000 after playing for eleven years. Throughout his career, Beers played in 258 games, scoring 10 goals and 97 assists.
After retiring from the National Hockey League (NHL), Beers played in the American Hockey League (AHL) and the International Hockey League (IHL). Furthermore, He played for the United States national team at the 1993, 1994, and 1997 World Championships.
