Kenny earned a magna cum laude degree from the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, New York, in 1985. From 1981 to 1982, he also attended St. John’s University.
Kenny began his broadcasting career in college as a reporter for “LI News Tonight,” New York Tech’s long-running daily news program. He began working as a reporter for WLIG, TV 55 Long Island in May 1985. In September 1985, he was named Sports Director at the station, launching his sportscasting career.
