Poole was signed by the Atlanta Falcons on the 5th of May in 2016. Poole was signed as an undrafted free agent. He signed a $1.62 million, three-year contract that included a $3,500 signing bonus. Poole had received multiple offers from different teams like the Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals, and the Pittsburg Steelers. But he signed on with the Falcons as he had a prior relationship with Dan Quinn who was his previous head coach. Quinn recruited him to the Falcons where he was the defensive coordinator.
Poole competed for a spot in the team roster against several other recruits. He became the third choice cornerback on the team’s depth chart. In addition, he was given nickel coverage duties. His first career interception came in game week 16 against the Carolina Panthers. The interception was against quarterback Cam Newton. In his rookie season, he played in all 16 games, starting in nine. Poole recorded fifty-nine tackles, one interception, and ten passes defended.
