Johnson the journalist began her journalism career while still a student at the University of California, Berkley. At the University she worked as a student journalist at the Graduate School of Journalism. Brittney helped produced print and broadcast stories for the hyperlocal news website, Oaklandnorth.net and studied television writing and production, news reporting and video editing for the web. She served as a student journalist for 2 years from 2007- 2009.
Additionally, she worked as a health intern at The Washington Post for 3 months from Jun 2008- Aug 2008. At the Washington Post, she was tasked to research and report enterprise health stories.
Moreover, while still at college, she worked as a special reports intern ay KTVU Channel 2 News. At this station, she helped research investigative stories for the special report’s producer. Brittany served as a special reports intern from Sep 2008- Apr 2009.
Furthermore, from Jul 2009 to Jul 2010, Johnson worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KTVE NBC 10. She was tasked to cover economic development and environmental concerns in Northeast Louisiana and South Arkansas and served as the fill-in producer and anchor for NBC 10 Today.
Immediately after leaving KTVE, Johnson joined KARK 4 News located in Little Rock, Arkansas. She served as a weekend anchor/reporter from Jul 2010 to Mar 2015. She helped provide in-depth coverage of city government, neighborhood, and environmental issues in the city of Little Rock.
