Cassadee was born on August 28, 1989, and was brought up in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was brought up in country music. Her vocal teacher was a “very Southern woman” who coached her with songs from the country canon, while her mother’s side of the family was righteous fans of the genre.

While at Wellington High School in Wellington, Florida, Pope started the band Blake with good friend Mike Gentile. The project was dissolved before being signed. In 2008, she and Gentile established the pop-punk band Hey Monday along with Alex Lipshaw, Michael “Jersey” Moriarty, and Elliot James.
