Nicknamed “Sir Charles”, “the Round Mound of Rebound”, and “the Bread Truck”, Barkley played 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Barkley used his strength and aggression to become one of the NBA’s best rebounders and scorers, though shorter than the typical power forward. He was also the 1993 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), an 11-time NBA All-Star, and an 11-time member of the All-NBA Team.

When he was young, his parents divorced after his father abandoned the family, which included his younger brother Darryl Barkley. His mother remarried, and they had a son, John Glenn, and another brother, Rennie, died in infancy. Later, his stepfather was killed in an accident when Charles was 11 years old.
