Chase is taking an active role spearheading the effort to organise the children of conservative billionaires into a political network to replace their ageing parents and grandparents. Koch donates funds to politicians regularly, recently to a politician favouring letting Texas chemical facilities to keep secret the contents of their plants, only months after an ammonium nitrate explosion killed 15 people. In 2018, Politico reported that Koch “wants to steer the conservative juggernaut his family created toward a kinder, gentler libertarianism”.
Death of Zachary Siebert
In 1996, at the age 16, Chase was convicted of misdemeanor vehicular homicide after hitting and killing twelve-year-old Zachary Siebert at a cross-walk after running a red light in Wichita. Koch was sentenced to 18 months of probation, 100 hours of community service, ordered to take a defensive driving course and ordered to pay for the boy’s funeral.
