Christie Brinkley (Christie Lee Hudson) is an American model, actress and businesswoman. She became prominent in the worldwide with her appearances in the late 1970s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues.   

Eventually she appeared on an unprecedented three consecutive covers starting in 1979. Christie spent twenty-five years as the face of CoverGirl. She  has appeared on over 500 magazine covers, and has signed contracts with major brands—both fashion and non-fashion.

She went on to work as an actress, illustrator, television personality, photographer, writer, designer, and activist for human and animal rights and the environment.

Her  career has  spanned more than three decades.  Magazines such as Allure and Men’s Health have named Christie one of the most attractive women of all time. In 2018 her financial holdings were worth an estimated US$250 million, primarily as the owner of several companies and real estate.

Christie was born Christie Lee Hudson in Monroe, Michigan.  She is the daughter of Marjorie (née Bowling) and Herbert Hudson. Christie’s family moved to Canoga Park, Los Angeles, California, where her mother Marjorie later met and married television writer Donald Brinkley in Bel Air, Los Angeles. Christie and her brother Greg Brinkley were adopted by Donald . During this time, the family lived in Malibu and then the Brentwood neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Christie was educated at Paul Revere Junior High School and went to Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles from 9th to 12th grade.  She graduated in 1973 and moved to Paris, to study art.

In 1973 Christie was discovered by American photographer Errol Sawyer in a post office in Paris.  Errol took Christie’s first modeling pictures and introduced her to John Casablancas of Elite Model Management agency in Paris.  Christie  stated later: “I was basically a surfer girl from California. I never looked like a model.” After she was introduced to Elite, where Christie met the fashion photographers Patrick Demarchelier and Mike Reinhardt who called Eileen Ford and told her about Brinkley, she returned to California.  By the end of a lunch meeting with Nina Blanchard (Eileen Ford affiliate in Los Angeles) Christie had been booked for three national ad campaigns.

Christie had a romantic relationship with Olivier Chandon de Brailles, heir to the Moët-Chandon Champagne fortune in 1982. They met at Studio 54 in New York City at a party promoting a calendar in which Christie appeared. A year later Chandon died  in a crash at a private pre-season practice session car race.

It was widely reported in September 2015 that John Mellencamp was in a new relationship with Brinkley.  The couple announced their separation in August 2016 after almost a year of dating.

In 1983 Christie and Joel met on the Island of St Barts, in the Caribbean and were married on March 23, 1985 on a yacht on the Hudson River, the second marriage for both. The two took their vows in a private ceremony attended by 175 family members and friends, including Paul Simon and the Stray Cats. The two remain friends to this day.

In May 1994 He proposed to her in May 1994, although she and Billy Joel were still married. She married Taubman on December 22, 1994, in Telluride, Colorado, near the area where they were both in a helicopter crash on April 1, 1994.  Brinkley was 40 years old and Taubman 46 and she announced at their wedding that they were expecting a baby boy. The marriage ended in 1995 with one son.

He got married  to architect Peter Halsey Cook (born January 1, 1959) in 1996 . The two first first met in 1979 when he was modeling; their paths also crossed a few times after that. The couple got  married on September 21, 1996 at a ranch in Bridgehampton, New York. Brinkley was 42 and Cook 37.  At their wedding they had nearly 120 guests, including Billy Joel. The couple had one child, a daughter, who began modeling at 15,  having been signed for IMG Models.

“It was like choosing a baby’s name,” Chrisite says at coming up with Bellissima, which in Italian means “most beautiful.” “We hope that when people are having a beautiful moment in their life, we are included. That we help add some sparkle to the occasion.”

And health is always a big part of beauty for Brinkley. The Zero Sugar wine, which Brinkley says is “supermodel approved,” is her drink of choice when she has a photo shoot coming up. She’s also proud that a huge segment of the population can now have a drink, even if they have diabetes or can’t have much sugar. “They can be a part of the celebration, too.”

The wines are also all organic, which is uncommon.

What are your favorite go-to beauty products?

My go-to favorite beauty products include my Christie Brinkley Authentic Beauty Recapture 360 day cream; I love to be outdoors, and this gives me the protection I need. I also can’t live without my Christie Brinkley foundation; I use medium neutral or medium warm. Blush and under-eye concealers are a must for me as well.

When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing you do beauty-wise?

Before going on a set I didn’t know much at all about makeup. From working I learned how to use light and shadows, how to carve the perfect cheekbone with your makeup, how to make your eyes bigger or wider, or your lips fuller. All these genius tips to completely switch around your whole look.

What is one beauty item you recommend everyone buy?

Posh blush. Everyone needs a healthy glow!

What is your go-to beauty look for a night out?Eyelashes, for sure. When I add eyelashes to my look, it completely makes me feel like a “night out!”

What is your ideal spa day and where?

My ideal spa day would be at Parrot Cay in the Caribbean, a massage and sometimes acupuncture.

What is the biggest skincare rule you abide by?

Sunblock!
What is one treatment you’re afraid to try?

Fraxel [lasers]…I have tried it once and it left me blistered. That being said, I know it is good for sun-damaged skin, so it must be done by a great doctor.

What is your biggest beauty splurge?

Ultherapy. I do it once a year!

Favorite form of self-care?

Besides the massage mentioned above, a good organic healthy meal. (And maybe washed down with some of my vegan, organic, sugar-free prosecco, Bellissima).

Worst beauty trend that you’ve participated in?

Cutting my own bangs! There is no way of concealing choppy, too short bangs!

It was listed for its highest asking price, at $25 million, in early 2017, before being lowered to $20 million and then again to $17.99 million last summer, according to reports. While the final sale price will be revealed once the sale closes, it’s easy to see why the home has such a high price tag.
