Craig T Nelson (Craig Theodore Nelson) is an American actor known for his roles as Hayden Fox in the television series Coach (for which he won an Emmy), Deputy Ward Wilson in the 1980 film Stir Crazy, Steven Freeling in the 1982 film Poltergeist, the warden in My Name is Earl, andb also Mr. Incredible in the 2004 film The Incredibles and its 2018 sequel. Craig also starred as Zeek Braverman in the television series Parenthood.
He studied at Central Washington University after high school. After flunking out of Central Washington University, he went to Yakima Valley College and was then inspired to study acting by his drama teacher, Mr. Brady. From the school, he went on to study drama at the University of Arizona on a scholarship.
He dropped out of school in 1969 and moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career, changing his middle name to “Theodore” because there was already a Craig Richard Nelson in the Screen Actors Guild. When Nelson first moved to California, he then took up a job as a security guard at a soap factory until finding work as a comedy writer.

In 1983, He appeared in Silkwood in 1983, directed by Mike Nichols and also starring Meryl Streep, as the high school football coach of Tom Cruise in the drama All the Right Moves and also as one of the stars of director Sam Peckinpah’s final film, The Osterman Weekend.
Nelson has appeared in many other motion pictures (most notably the Poltergeist series) and has had featured roles in five television shows (Coach, Call to Glory, The District, My Name Is Earl, and Parenthood).
