In March of 2011, Blackwell began working for Univision, the leading Hispanic-based multimedia company in the United States. She hosted and produced one of their weekday mornings shows Despierta SA, where she talked about the local news and interviewed guests. In June 2012, she made the move to Miami, Florida and became a weather reporter for Univision there.
A few years later, Cristina returned to San Antonio. The show she interned for ten years ago has been working on CBS’s KENS-TV 5’s Great Day SA ever since. During her senior year of college, Blackwell found work as a reporter and columnist for La Prensa, a Latin media company that covers everything from radio to TV.
She worked as a radio host for Fresh Beat 93.7 and Radio Ola 105.9. However, she covered weekly columns and wrote articles in both English and Spanish. Also, she appeared on Telemundo’s Telecom commercials. For ABC KSAT 12 News, another La Prensa affiliate. she assisted field reporters and helped run things behind the scenes.
