Dana Perino Biography
Dana Perino is an American political commentator and former White House Press Secretary for George W. Bush. She was the twenty-fourth secretary from Sep. 14th, 2007 to Jan. 20th, 2009 and the second female White House Press Secretary after Dee Dee Myers.

Perino went to Ponderosa High School in Parker, Denver and later enrolled at Colorado State University-Pueblo where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and minors in both political science and Spanish. In 2001, Dana secured her self a position as a spokesperson for the Department of Justice. After two years of serving as a spokesperson, Dana joined the White House staff as the Associate director of communications for the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ).

From 2005 to 2007, Dana served as the Deputy Press Secretary and moved to work as the Acting White House Press Secretary to fill in for Tony Snow who underwent a colon cancer treatment. Later in 2007, August, President George W.Bush appointed Perino as his assistant and White House Press Secretary from September 14, 2007. Her tenure ended after Bush’s administration ended in January 2009.
She traveled with her husband in South Africa one day after President George Bush left office in January 2009. They went to volunteer in Fish Hoek South Africa at a faith-based organization that manages several programs for people affected by all aspects of HIV and AIDS called Living Hope.
After her career at the white house, President Barack Obama nominated her to serve on the Broadcasting Board of Governors in November 2009. The United States Senate confirmed her nomination in June 2010. Perino appeared alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, an NBA legend and David Faber, a CNBC anchor on the hit TV quiz show, “Jeopardy” in May 2012.
Perino joined Fox News and became a political commentator. In 2011 July, she became the co-host of The Five, a talk show featuring a panel that discusses political issues and current stories happening around the world. She began hosting The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino on Fox News in October 2017. Perino co-hosts Fox’s podcast called Perino & Stirewalt: I’ll tell you what.
