Slaughter
After exiting the Vinnie Vincent Invasion band in August 1988, Strum shared a cramped flat in LA with 7 other toiling musicians, including his one-time and future bandmate Mark Slaughter. Tim Kelly, a guitarist, entered their group after meeting Slaughter at a barbecue, and Blas Elias, a drummer, joined them after impressing Strum and Mark in a videotaped audition and playing live in LA.
After forming the Slaughter band in January 1989, Strum, Mark, Kelly, and Elias started working on songs with a drum machine and a four-track in a sharted flat in Los Angeles. Shortly after, they joined the Record Plant to begin tracking demos.
