After seeing his first comedy show at the Edinburgh Festival, Bhoy started standing up in 1998. He won the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award a year later, Britain’s biggest comedy newcomer competition. Danny took his first full-length solo show to the Edinburgh Festival in 2001, where he sold out his entire three-week run within a week, adding extra shows to meet the ticket demand.
He was invited to the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in 2005. Here he was described by the Montreal Gazette as “the festival’s outstanding hit.” Danny was invited to the inaugural Las Vegas Comedy Festival in November.
Bhoy toured Australia in 2007, finishing his tour at the Sydney Opera House, and the final show at Her Majesty’s Theater in Perth in 2009. Bhoy appeared with David Letterman on the late show, broadcast on 5 March 2010, and the “Saturday Night Stand-up” of The Comedy Network, broadcast on 17 April 2010.
Early in 2011, with his show Messenger (Please Do Not Shoot), he started to tour Australia, selling his shows at the Sydney Comedy Festival. He also sold out all of his performances at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, and due to popular demand, both of which also sold out, he had to add two more shows at a different venue. Dear Epson, Bhoy’s 2012 show was loosely centered on a series of letters to well-known businesses. After a run at the Edinburgh Fringe, he toured the show.
