David Alaba Biography
David Alaba (full name: David Olatukunbo Alaba) is an Austrian professional footballer who plays for German club Bayern Munich and the Austria national team. He has blossomed as a left-back though he has had a multitude of roles that include central midfield, central defense, right, and left-wing.
He was born in Vienna and began his career with his local club in Aspern, SV Aspern, in Donaustadt, the 22nd district, before joining the youth setup of FK Austria Wien at the age of 10.
In SV Aspern, he quickly rose through the ranks and in April 2008 he was named on the first-team substitutes’ bench for a Bundesliga match. He also played five times for Austria Wien’s reserve team before leaving in summer 2008 to join German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.

The Austrian national was born to George Alaba, an Austrian musician and his wife Gina Alaba. Gina is from the Philippines and emigrated to work as a nurse while his father is a prince from Ogere, Nigeria (he is a Yoruba Nigerian). He is also a rapper and works as a DJ. In 1984, George Alaba began studying in Vienna and after learning German for a few semesters, his interest in economics brought him to the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
He later dropped out to focus on his career as a musician. He began as a DJ in the African Club in front of an international audience. His first CD was not a success. He was granted Austrian citizenship in the mid-90s and this led to his calling to the army. He served as the first dark-skinned guard soldier and this drew a lot of great media attention.

David Alaba Bayern Munich
He joined the German Bundesliga side in the summer of 2008 and began in the club’s youth system by playing for the under 17 and under 19 teams, before being promoted to the reserve team for the 2009–10 season.
In August 2009 against Dynamo Dresden in a 3. Liga match, Alaba made his debut for Bayern Munich and scored his first professional goal for FC Bayern Munich II on 29 August 2009. For the 2009-2010 UEFA Champions League, he was named in Bayern Munich’s squad and assigned the number 27 shirt.
In January 2010, it was announced that Alaba would train with the first team for the rest of the 2009–10 season, along with reserve teammates Diego Contento and Mehmet Ekici. In January 2011, Alaba was loaned to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for a season-long period. Return to Bayern Munich
After the end of his loan to Hoffenheim, Alaba made his return to Bayern at the start of the 2011–12 season, becoming a regular member of the first-team squad. He was also the youngest player in the history of the Austrian national team when he made his debut. On 8 September 2015, he scored a ninth-minute Panenka-style penalty kick to open a 4–1 away win over Sweden at the Friends Arena in Solna. The result qualified Austria for UEFA Euro 2016, their first successful qualification campaign for the continental championship.
He captained Austria for the first time on 24 March 2017, in a World Cup 2018 Qualification game against Moldova which ended in a 2–0 victory, deputizing in the absence of suspended captain Julian Baumgartlinger.
