Currently, he serves as the Washington, D.C. bureau chief for Mother Jones, on-air analyst for MSNB, and he is widely known as a cable television commentator. Previously, he worked as the Washington editor for The Nation, and he made regular appearances on FOX News, MSNBC, National Public Radio, and BloggingHeads.tv.

David received the George Polk Award in journalism in the category of political reporting for his posting of a video and reporting of the “47 percent story” in 2012. He has written several books including “Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump” which was released in March 2018. He is also an author of nonfiction and fiction books that commonly focus on government and politics.
