David Dellucci Biography
David Dellucci is a retired American professional baseball outfielder, who played for seven teams in Major League Baseball ( MLB) for 13 seasons. Despite performing well and racking up impressive statistics as a college player, MLB Central Scouting regarded Dellucci as a utility outfielder as opposed to other players’ deep talent pool in the ’95 draft.
As a result, he did not receive a high selection, so he went in the 10th round and was ultimately picked by the Baltimore Orioles in the First-Year Player Draft that year. Dellucci registered his first Major League hit off of Tom Gordon in 1997, which hit off the Fenway Park Green Monster. He hit his first major home league run in a road game against Cal Eldred of the Brewers on June 25.
When playing for the Phoenix Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League he was picked in the 1998 MLB Expansion Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. From the inaugural season of the team from 1998 to 2003, he played for Arizona. He played on the squad which won the World Series in 2001.
