Derek Carr, born Derek Dallas Carr, is a professional football player from the United States. He currently plays for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League(NFL).

Clements High School
His football career began early in life while he was in high school. He attended and played for Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas. In his first year, he played on the freshman team. Following this, he was made a backup quarterback on the varsity team as a sophomore. He became a regular starter after a preseason injury to the team’s quarterback.
He led his team to an undefeated 13-0 season, playoffs included, before losing in the 2007 Class 5A Division 2 State playoffs quarterfinal against Katy High School. In his junior year, he was heavily recruited. His choices were Fresno State, SMU, University of South California, UCLA, Utah and Boise State.

He was the program’s first recruit of the 2009 class. In his senior year, he led the Eagles football team to a 12-1 record. In addition, he led them to the California Interscholastic Federation Central Section Division V championship.
After passing for 441 yards and three touchdowns in a game against Tehachapi High School, he was selected the National Player of the Week by ESPN RISE. On the 7th of November 20018, he set a record after throwing 544 yards against Arvin High School.

NFL|Oakland Raiders – 2014 season
He was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the 2nd round of the 2014 NFL Draft with the 36th overall pick. On the 16th of May, he was assigned his requested number 4 jersey. On the 21st of May, he signed a four-year, $5.37 million contract that included a $2.2 million signing bonus.
On the 1st of September, he became the first rookie quarterback in Raider’s history to start a season opener.
