Qualls was born on 10 June 1978, in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Coffee County Central High School. In High School, he was an active member of the Red Raider Band. He went to King’s College, London, where he studied English language and English literature. He then returned to Tennessee and enrolled in Belmont University in Nashville, where he also started acting in a local theater company.
