Dorothy Bush Koch was born as Dorothy Walker Bush and is an American author and philanthropist. Bush attended Miss Porter’s School, a private all-girls college-preparatory school in Farmington, Connecticut. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Boston College in 1982.
Bush has authored the book My Father, My President: A Personal Account of the Life of George H. W. Bush (2006). She is an event organizer and fundraiser for charities and other nonprofit organizations. She co-chairs the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy along with her brother Jeb Bush.
In 1994, China began to discourage foreign religious practices. When Dorothy was visiting Beijing in 1975, she was the first person publicly baptized in China since that policy had started.
Dorothy sponsored the commission of the vessel ‘USS George H.W. Bush,’ named after her father. She gave the first orders to the crew of this newly commissioned naval vessel, in Norfolk, Virginia, on January 10, 2009.
