Savant started his profession when he was still young. His first television appearance was in the teen comedy films Secret Admirer and Teen Wolf in 1985. The following year he featured in the horror movie Trick or Treat. He had a recurring role, from 1986 until 1987 in the CBS prime-time soap opera Knots Landing as a younger version of Mac McKenzie (played by Kevin Dobson).
Savant was paired with future Desperate Housewives co-star Nicollette Sheridan. He played a younger version of the Anne Matheson character represented by Michelle Phillips.
