Doug’s first comedy was influenced by Monty Python and National Lampoon. Previously, before doing full-time comedy, he worked in telemarketing borderline legal stuff trying to scam people. He later left Worchester for Los Angeles where he lived for six months.
He then moved to Florida, back to Massachusets to Oceanside California then Massachusets to Idaho and later Las Vegas. After living in almost every city and state of the US, Doug settled in Bisbee Arizona where he lives to this day. Stanhope is known for his heavy alcohol consumption and is a self-confessed drunk. In a 2011 interview, he said the last time he was sober on stage was in 2003. He is also known for dressing in thrift store clothing.
