Kevin Fiala Biography
Kevin Fiala is a professional ice hockey player from Switzerland. He currently plies his trade for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League(NHL).
He plays in the winger position and dons the jersey number 12. He started playing while in Switzerland before moving in 2012 to Sweden to heighten his career. He played for the Malmö Redhawks junior team for one season. He joined HV71 playing in a single season for both the junior and senior team in the Swedish Hockey League(SHL).
He was the 11th overall pick for the Nashville Predators in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He moved to North America mid-season and split two seasons between the Predators and the Milwaukee Admirals(American Hockey League Affiliate).
He has represented the Swiss national team at a number of tournaments. This is at both the junior and senior level. He has played in two World Championships.

He participated in the 2009 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, playing for the Swiss Eastern team. He played in several junior leagues in Switzerland before joining the Malmö Redhawks of Sweden. This was for the 2012-13 season. His time at the club was split playing for the U-18, J18 Allsvenskan, and the U-20 sides.
He joined HV71 and had his debut at the 2013 European Trophy. His time during the 2013-14 season was split with the junior team and the senior team.
He was a finalist of the SHL’s Rookie of the Year award due to impressive performances.
For the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, he was considered one of the top European prospects. He was the 11th overall pick for the Nashville Predators.
On the 15th of July in 2014, he signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Predators. Initially, he began the 2014-15 season with HV71 but he was re-assigned to the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.
On the 24th of March, he made his NHL debut in a match against the Montreal Canadiens. He participated in one playoff game during the season.
On the 14 of January in 2016, he scored his debut NHL goal in a game against the Winnipeg Jets. He concluded the season with 50 points from 66 games.
He made the roster for the Predators first game of the 2016-17 season. He bagged 11 goals from 54 games in his rookie NHL season.
Throughout the year, he was assigned to the Admirals. Here he recorded 19 points from 22 games.
On the 26th of April in 2017, he suffered a broken femur in his left leg. His participation in the 2017 playoffs was halted by a ruptured artery in his leg during the injury.
He was traded to the Minnesota Wild on the 25th of February in 2019. This was in exchange for Mikael Granlund.
