Ousmane Dembele – O Dembele Biography
Ousmane Dembélé was born on 15 May 1997, he is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish club Barcelona and the France national team.
Dembélé began his career at Rennes before joining Dortmund in 2016. A year later, he transferred to Barcelona for an initial fee of €105 million, becoming the joint-second most expensive footballer ever alongside Paul Pogba at that time.
After winning 20 caps and scoring five goals at youth level, Dembélé made his senior international debut in 2016.

Ousmane Dembele has become the second-most expensive footballer of all time after completing his transfer to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund.
It is a shrewd piece of business for Die Schwarzgelben, with the sum of €105 million plus bonuses worth 40 per cent of the fee approximately ten times the amount Dortmund paid to bring the now 20-year-old to the Bundesliga from Ligue 1 side Rennes in summer 2016.
Dembele went on to have an outstanding debut campaign in Germany, scoring six league goals and providing a further 12 assists.
The season culminated in Dembele helping Dortmund lift the DFB Cup in May, the first major trophy of his professional career, with the seven-time France international scoring the opener in a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
While Dembele’s departure is a blow for coach Peter Bosz’s side, Dortmund still boast an embarrassment of attacking riches, with Christian Pulisic, Marco Reus, Mario Götze, Andre Schürrle, Shinji Kagawa and Maximilian Philipp forming an all-star supporting cast for 2016/17 Bundesliga top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Dembele suffers sprained right ankle
The France international will be supervised by Barcelona medical staff after suffering the injury against Real Sociedad on Sunday
Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele suffered a sprained right ankle in his team’s win over Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Dembele, 21, came off early in the second half at Camp Nou after picking up an injury following a tackle from Raul Navas. The La Liga champions confirmed the France international had suffered the injury in the season’s final league game.
“In the next few days he will continue under the supervision of the club’s medical staff.” The injury is a slight worry for France less than a month out from the World Cup in Russia. Dembele is part of Didier Deschamps’ squad, who begin their tournament with a clash against Australia on June 16.

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has said he would not sign players such as Ousmane Dembele and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Borussia Dortmund’s problems with them. Dembele moved to Barcelona in the summer after effectively going on strike and missing training, for which he was suspended, while Aubameyang, who missed two team meetings last week, has been linked with Arsenal.
“The Dembele and Aubameyang situations have to be viewed in a critical light,” Heynckes told a news conference. “It’s unacceptable how certain players act in professional football. It’s just not right. These situations have always happened, but now they have reached a whole new dimension.
“I am very critical of this because players are very privileged. The [Philippe] Coutinho transfer was similar but solved more elegantly. “Ethics and morals form part of our job and we have to look at the bigger picture and what’s happening in society. You have to consider how difficult it is for others to earn their monthly income.
“Clubs signing these players have to expect that this behaviour will continue at their club. “I don’t want to speak of solidarity, but it’s a team sport where you cannot afford to set your own individual targets. Clubs should think twice about signing these players. Honestly, I would reject it.”
Heynckes said he “couldn’t imagine” such a situation happening at Bayern and added: “You have to show the player that it is not possible. “It is, of course, a question of mentality. Players have a responsibility and it’s not a case of money going into their bank accounts at the end of the month.
“Banishing the player to the stands is not the way. You have to work at it, communicate and care for the player. You need a clear direction and I think we have that at Bayern Munich.” Heynckes repeated his plea to clubs “to be careful not to alienate the fans,” having voiced support for supporter protests against high ticket prices for Bayern’s Champions League game at Anderlecht in November.
He said: “Our fans correctly criticised Anderlecht for hiking ticket prices up to €100, while Arsenal haven’t had any success in recent years yet continue to increase tickets prices. “It’s just a hobby for our fans, and they sometimes have to take a day off work.”
Meanwhile Heynckes confirmed left-back David Alaba will miss the weekend game against Werder Bremen with a stomach bug. Mats Hummels returned to training on Friday after a heavy cold but will not be risked against Bremen, while Robert Lewandowski returns to the squad after injury.
Dembélé was called up to the senior France squad for the first time to face Italy and Belarus in August 2016 after Alexandre Lacazette and Nabil Fekir withdrew through injury. He made his debut on 1 September against the former at the Stadio San Nicola, replacing Antoine Griezmann for the final 27 minutes of a 3–1 friendly victory.
On 13 June 2017, Dembélé scored his first France goal in a 3–2 friendly victory against England. On May 17 2018, he was called up to the 23 man French squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Barcelona are prepared to sell Ousmane Dembele this summer just a year after he joined the club and are already contacting potential clubs they could sell him to, according to reports. The French winger – who has been linked with Liverpool recently – moved to Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund in a deal that could reach £135million, though missed much of the start of his maiden campaign through injury.
After returning to full fitness he still struggled to hold down a first-team role in Ernesto Valverde’s side, with Philippe Coutinho frequently preferred on the right wing. And now Spanish radio station RAC1 claim that Barcelona are ready to cut their losses on a player who has netted just three times in La Liga this season.
Club officials are ready to offload Dembele either as a straight cash transfer or a loan with a mandatory option to buy. They have already contacted several top European clubs who could afford to pay a similar fee to the £135m Barca paid last summer, and Liverpool are likely to have been one of the clubs they reached out to.
The Merseysiders have recently been linked with a move for the 21-year-old, with reports in France claiming Jürgen Klopp has been ‘obsessed’ with Dembele ever since he joined the German’s old club Borussia Dortmund. Dembele arrived a year after Klopp had already left, and the Liverpool boss could not hide his appreciation for the winger when asked about rumours linking the club with both Dembele and Nabil Fekir.

Raul Navas apologises to Ousmane Dembele for tackle which injured Barcelona star
May 21, 2018
Ousmane Dembele picked up a sprained ankle against Real Sociedad on Sunday, but it could have been worse as the Frenchman was the victim of a really poor challenge from Raul Navas.
Navas managed to escape with just a booking, while Dembele tried to continue but eventually came off. Fortunately the injury does not seem too serious.
There were reports after the match that an angry Dembele had confronted Navas, and the Sociedad man has taken to Instagram to apologise to the Barca star.
He wrote: “With respect to what happened yesterday: It was a quick play in which I went forcefully for the ball and unfortunately I took Dembele down.
”It ended up being a very ugly tackle, inappropriate from me. At no moment did I want to cause any damage and I apologised twice on the pitch.
“I want to send a hug to Dembele, I hope he recovers quickly and I’m looking forward to seeing him on the plane to the World Cup for his country.”
Barcelona have said they’ll monitor Dembele, but it doesn’t appear at this stage that his World Cup hopes have been hit by the injury.
