Patrick Bruel is a French singer-songwriter , actor , producer and professional poker player , born on May 14 , 1959 in Tlemcen ( Algeria ). Born Patrick Maurice Benguigui, he is the son of Pierre Benguigui and Augusta Kammoun, daughter of Elie and Céline Ben Sidoun. His father and mother are of Berber Jewish origin, became French citizens following the Cremieux decree of 1870.
In 1960, his parents, both teachers, separated. The young Patrick is raised by his mother, a teacher . She remarried later with an architect, Philippe Moreau (the son of a prominent Niort physician, Dr. René Moreau), giving him two half-brothers, David (1972) and Fabrice Moreau (1975). It is “high in the respect for tradition Jewish , but not very religious”.
