What Victor Lindelof told Manchester United teammates after England World Cup win
Updated:9 JUL 2018
England booked their place in the World Cup semi final at the expense of Sweden and Victor Lindelof was consoled by his club team mates.
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has revealed he will be cheering England on to win the World Cup after Gareth Southgate’s side knocked Sweden out of the competition.
Lindelof played the full quarter-final clash which saw England emerge as 2-0 winners and images at the full-time whistle showed the Swede being comforted by his United teammates.
Marcus Rashford was one of the first to approach the 23-year-old centre-back to console him at the final whistle, closely followed by Phil Jones and Ashley Young.
And the United defender has explained what he said to his clubmates.
“I just spoke with them you know and they gave me a hug and I congratulated them on the win and wished them good luck,” Lindelof explained.
“I have wished them all the best and I will be cheering for England to win it now because they are my friends.
“Of course, it’s the biggest disappointment of my career so far. It is the World Cup, it is the biggest thing you can play in for your national team. To lose in the quarter-finals is tough. I’m very, very disappointed.”
