Cassimy joined WDIV in August 2013 as the anchor of Local 4 News Today. In addition, He works along with Jason Carr, Jamie Edmonds, and Devin Scillian, among others. His first journalism job was in Colorado. In Richmond, Va., he worked as a full-time anchor for the first time and nabbed an award for breaking news coverage. He later moved to Denver, where his reporting on major stories earned him three Emmy nominations.

Concrete from an overpass on I-75 in Detroit smashed through Local 4 anchor Cassimy’s sunroof when he was driving home from work Monday. Evrod said the chunk of concrete fell off an overpass near McNichols Road.
He mentioned no trucks were around to kick up the concrete, and he doesn’t believe someone threw it at his vehicle. The Michigan Department of Transportation is working to patch different areas of I-75, but drivers are warned that a change in temperatures has led to crumbling roads.

Coronavirus
On March 24, 2020, Cassimy tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). Evrod said he is overwhelmed but is on the mend as he rests at home. He offered advice for Local 4 viewers as he recovers. “Take this very seriously because I would not want anybody to go through what I’ve gone through. I took it as seriously as most people are and still got it,” he said. “I’m hurting and I am going to be OK.”
