On 10 March 2011, Pearson was arrested along with 60 others and charged with drug offenses. The arrest was made during a predawn raid at her home in Baltimore following a five-month DEA operation.
At the first hearing after her arrest, Judge John Addison Howard denied Pearson bail due to her acting ability: “Well, you can change your appearance, I’ve seen the episodes of The Wire in which you appear.
You look very different than you do here today, and I’m not talking about the jumpsuit, I’m talking about your general appearance.” After a month in jail, Pearson was offered bail of $50,000 on April 8, 2011.
In August 2011, she pleaded guilty to the charges a day before her trial was to begin. She was sentenced to a suspended seven-year prison term, with credit for time served, and given three years of supervised probation.

Next week is National Re-entry Week. A well-known actress and ex-prisoner will be speaking to inmates about how she overcame a troubled childhood and is now leading a successful life on the outside.
Felicia Pearson went from being a 14-year-old drug dealer and convicted second-degree murderer, to becoming a writer, actor and philanthropist. She’s known for her role on the T.V. series “The Wire”. Now, she’s sharing her testimony of hope to female inmates at Camille Graham Correctional in Columbia.
After that deadly riot at Lee Correctional on Sunday, Pearson has a message.
“Just because we’re behind bars doesn’t mean we need to be treated like animals”, says Pearson. “It’s time to help somebody else with the same pain I had and look at me and be encouraged to keep moving, just hold on.”
Pearson has written a memoir called “Grace After Midnight”. She’s is scheduled to speak with inmates tomorrow morning at Camille Griffin Graham Correctional on Broad River Road.
