The Cove was awarded the Academy Award for Best Documentary, in 2008, Stevens also made another documentary named Crazy Love which received an Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary Feature.

Fisher Stevens Production Company
In 2010, he was among the founders of a new media and documentary film company, Insurgent Media, along with Andrew Karsch and Erik H. Gordon. Later in June 2010, Stevens made his major theatrical directing debut with John Leguizamo’s one-man show, Ghetto Klown.
The film later ran on Broadway from March to July 2011. On July 13, the year 2012, PBS debuted Tales From a Ghetto Klown, a documentary about the development of the show which prominently features Stevens. In 2010, Stevens was awarded an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for co-producing The Cove.
