Frances Fisher( full name: Frances Louise Fisher) is an English-born American film, TV, and stage actor, best known for her supporting roles in the soap opera’ The Edge of Night’ and the film ‘ Titanic.
‘ Born and raised in Hampshire, England, she traveled a lot in her childhood because of her father’s job. It was during her high school years that she caught a penchant for acting after performing in theatrical plays, In order to build it.
Her first stint as a screen actor was for the hugely successful soap opera’ The Edge of Night.’ She worked in the soap for five years. In 1985, she joined the cast of another daytime soap opera,’ Guiding Light.’ In the late 1980s, she had her film breakthrough with the film ‘ Pink Cadillac.’
She appeared in supporting roles in films such as’ Laws of Attraction,” Titanic,’ and’ A Single Woman.’ She also appeared in a few episodes of TV series such as’ Eureka,” Touch,’ and’ Masters of Sex.’

Fisher will star in a Laguna Playhouse production of James Goldman’s The Lion in the Winter, directed by Sheldon Epps. Fisher will star as Queen Eleanor alongside Gregory Harrison (Chicago, Steel Pier) as King Henry II.
The Orange County production will begin previews November 6 ahead of a November 10 opening, for a limited run through November 24. Further casting will be announced.
Set in 1183, The Lion in the Winter sees King Henry II and his wife, Queen Eleanor, butt heads over which of their sons should be the next king. Henry wants Prince John to take over while Eleanor believes their son Prince Richard should take the throne. As the family and various schemers gather for Christmas, each tries to make the indecisive king choose their option.
Fisher’s extensive small screen resume begins with the soap opera The Edge of Night; additional TV credits include Strange Luck, Glory Days, Eureka, Resurrection, and the upcoming Watchmen.

She began attending ‘ Actors Studio ‘ and studied the nuances of acting under her mentor, Lee Strasberg. She then moved to Virginia and worked with the ‘ Barter Theater, ‘ a repertory theater
Throughout the next decade, she poured all her energy into making a name in the circles of New York and the East Coast Theater and appeared in a number of important plays, gaining both name and fame.

She got another big opportunity in 1985 when she was offered the role of ‘ Suzette Saxon ‘ in the daytime opera ‘ Guiding Light. ‘ It was her last stint as a daytime opera actor, and she then appeared in guest roles in series such as ‘ The Equalizer ‘ as ‘ Francesca ‘ and ‘ Amanda Kaufman ‘, ‘ Roseanne ‘ as ‘ Savannah ‘ and ‘ Matlock ‘ ‘ Nancy Proctor ‘.
She also had a thriving film career and was seen in movies such as ‘ Tough Guys Don’t Dance ‘ as ‘ Jessica Pond ‘ and ‘ Patty Hearst ‘ as ‘ Yolanda ‘.
She got her first major film breakthrough in 1989 when she appeared in a supporting role in the Clint Eastwood-starrer comedy–action film ‘ Pink Cadillac.’ She played the role of’ Dinah’ in the film. However, the film bombed at the box office and only managed to get lukewarm reviews. Nevertheless, the actors ‘ performances were praised.
In 1995, she appeared in the ‘ Angie ‘ supporting role in the ‘ Strange Luck ‘ series. After the first season was aired, the series ran into trouble and was not renewed for further seasons. Frances appeared in all 17 first season episodes.
Frances had started dating Clint Eastwood after’ Pink Cadillac,’ which resulted in her becoming a meaty role in Clint’s film’ Unforgiven.’ Eastwood himself directed the 1992 film and was a huge critical and commercial success. The movie won four’ Academy Awards’ and was hailed as an immediate classic. Frances ‘ portrayal of’ Strawberry Alice’ in the film also received praise. It was her first full-fledged Hollywood break.
Following the success of ‘ Unforgiven, ‘ several films were offered to Frances, both major studio films and independent films. She starred in movies like ‘ Do Me a Favor ‘ as a librarian and ‘ Wild America ‘ as ‘ Agnes ‘.
However, among the rest, her role as the lead character ‘ Rose’s mother in the cult classic film ‘ Titanic ‘ stood out. As the film became a roaring international success, Frances was noticed for her impeccable acting skills.
