Langella Sr. (1913–1991), a business executive who was president of the Bayonne Barrel and Drum Company. Langella attended Washington Elementary School and Bayonne High School in Bayonne.

After the family moved to South Orange, New Jersey, he graduated from Columbia High School in the South Orange-Maplewood School District in 1955 and later graduated from Syracuse University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in drama.

Langella triumphed in acclaim on the New York stage in “Seascape” and followed it up with the title role in the Edward Gorey production of “Dracula”. He reprised the role on the screen in Dracula (1979) and became an international star.

Dracula

For his performance in Edward Albee’s Seascape in 1975, Frank won his first Tony Award. Also, Frank was nominated again for the performance for which he was best known in the early part of his career. The title role of the 1977 Broadway production of Dracula. Dracula is a stage play written by Hamilton Deane in 1924 and then revised by John L. Balderston in 1927. It was the first authorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula.

Zorro

The Mark of Zorro is a television action-adventure film. It starred Frank alongside Gilbert Roland, Yvonne De Carlo, Anne Archer, Ricardo Montalban, and Robert Middleton. The film was also a backdoor pilot for a television series on which ABC-TV declined to pick up the option. It used Alfred Newman’s musical score for the 1940 film version along with new incidental music composed by Dominic Frontiere.

Lolita
