Christie was born on April 26, 1947, in Ventura, California, United States to his father George Christie Sr., and his mother whose identity is unknown. He is the only child of his parents. He has always been inquisitive about motorcycles and outlaw culture since he was a kid. He purchased his first motorcycle, a 1957 Panhead at 19.
Regarding his education, Christie attended Ventura High School, where he was an athlete and a member of the school’s wrestling team. After completing high school, he shortly enrolled at Ventura College but dropped out to pursue other interests.
In his early years, Christie became involved with motorcycling and finally joined the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club in the late 1960s, rising through the ranks to become the president of the Ventura chapter in the 1970s.

Christie is an American retired outlaw biker and gangster. Between 1978 and 2011, Christie served as president of the Ventura, California chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club. Furthermore, Christie is the longest-serving chapter president in the club’s history. Also, Christie was a national spokesman for the Hells Angels. Apart from being president of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, he is also an author and has written several books.
Hells Angels
Christie joined the Hells Angels as a probationary member in 1975, and a year later was initiated as a full member of the club’s Los Angeles County (LACO) chapter. As a married man with children, Christie carried out club duties at night and on weekends, and after 6 months with the club he was elected the chapter’s president, succeeding John Nobel.
In the 1990s and 2000s, Christie was typically regarded as the right-hand man of the Hells Angel’s international president Sonny Barger, and as the second most powerful Hells Angel in the United States. Following Sonny Barger’s throat cancer which resulted in the loss of his voice, Christie became the public front of the Hells Angels.
