At age 14, Glenn began working for WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida. Glenn received a journalism degree from the University of Florida. After this, Glenn interned at the National Hurricane Center working for Drs. Neil Frank and Joseph Pellisier.

Glenn then became chief meteorologist at WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida. Glenn has received numerous awards for his work in meteorology from the American Red Cross, United States Coast Guard as well as Civil defense, Best of Cobb Magazine, Best of Atlanta Magazine, the Associated Press, and Best of Gwinnett Magazine.

After working for three years in Florida, Glenn went to the University of Minnesota to begin his postgraduate work in astrophysics. At the time, Glenn was chief meteorologist for WTCN-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
